Bamboo is empty inside but it is hard and very strong, we have to make them solid. We have to split bamboo poles.
The bamboo poles are placed in a special machine that converts them into rough bamboo slats. The poles are pushed through a metal “splitter” (knives in a star shape) until the entire stem is cut into slats.
